I typically don't use shoulder bags as I prefer my belongings to be fully on me. Yes, I use backpacks, not purses, and yes, I 100% am a fan of fanny packs.
It's always good to try something new though, and I was very pleased with this bag.
One of my favorite things about the bag is the strap on the back that slides perfectly over the handle of my rolling carry-on bag. This made rolling through the airport and over New Orleans cobblestone streets a breeze.
My Clark & Mayfield Hawthorne bag made it easy to keep everything I needed with me and organized. I could fit my 15” Macbook Pro in the center pocket when I needed to and organize all my other necessities in the surrounding pockets.
If you’ve ever been to a conference for work, you know you’ll end up with a plethora of business cards. I had an easy-to-access internal pocket that was great for slipping business cards in so they didn’t end up crushed or lost at the bottom of my bag.
The straps to carry the bag were my biggest concern, but surprisingly they were very sturdy and comfortable on the shoulder.
I do tend to put too much in my bag, and the Hawthorne bag just has so much room inside! It was definitely easy to fit what I needed and then some, but that does make a shoulder bag slightly less comfortable to carry.
So, while you can fit essentially everything but the kitchen sink in here AND keep it organized, I still don't recommend it, unless you're looking for a shoulder workout too.
The quality of the leather is wonderful and the stitching is both strong and beautiful.
I was very pleased with the strength of the top zipper as well. As I already mentioned, I may have overloaded my bag once or twice on this trip, and the zipper still closed smoothly.
I chose the camel color and was very pleased with it. It's a very nice, neutral shade and goes with a lot while still standing out and turning some heads.
The external pockets are great too and easily fit a water bottle or other items you want to have quick and easy access to. The lining is durable and beautifully crafted as well.
I would highly recommend this bag to my fellow remote leaders out there. It is great to travel with and is fashionable.
I'll be bringing it with me to Guatemala as well for our upcoming Remote Work Summit 2018! And did you know that one lucky attendee at Remote Work Summit will win a Clark & Mayfield 18.4" Marquam Roller?
